From our friends at the AIGA: “Please join us as Mig shares stories of making things, and doing great work that makes everyone happy. Yourself included. This is a talk about doing over dreaming. You know, stories of sweat and tears, xacto cuts, and hard drive crashes. The stuff designer legends are made out of. But it’s also a talk about being happy doing some of the best work of your life.”
Special Pricing for PhilaMade Members
AIGA was kind enough to offer us a discount code:

For our first PhilaPM Roundtable we’re getting it all out in the open, time to share your biggest failures, how you bounced back, and what you learned from them. We’ll be identifying some of the indicators that a project is going downhill, and how to take some steps to get it back on track. Aside from inspiring a few laughs, and commiserating, our stories will help us learn from each other’s mistakes.
Coffee and some light refreshments provided to fuel the discussion. Please come with something to share.

Show & Tell is back and part of DesignPhiladelphia! We are also excited to partner with Stupid Easy Ideas for our third installment of Show & Tell. Our distinguished presenters are…
Sure, our presenters have launched amazing projects, but what’s behind the curtain? What technologies were employed? What kind of research generated? How did they arrive at the final concept? What did each team member do? What did their clients do? What did they do when their clients did what they did?
As usual, we’ll have food and drinks to be enjoyed by all, courtesy of Swig bartending.

Us vs. Them. Why does it always seem to come down to “us” and “them?” The Creative Director who looks at IA deliverables and thinks “Clearly, I can do better.” The IA or UX Designer who sees their totally usable designs shredded by the creatives once the wireframes get thrown over the fence. Clients and agencies who speak different languages and see our roles differently. Project after project, client after client, the frustration grows into resentment.
It doesn’t have to be that way. We’re more alike than not, and although a lot of progress has been made over the last several years, more work needs to be done.
This month, we’re going to put an Interactive Creative Director, a Principal of User Experience and a client-side stakeholder on stage to have conversation about:
- How do we differ and how are we similar?
- How do we come together to deliver a holistic brand experience?
- How do we frame ourselves and our teams to our clients and stakeholders to get them the most value from using us, while we gain influence in their organizations?
